While poking through music yesterday, I found a song that was very, very Roy, and decided to be a geek and make a Conversion soundtrack.

The art for the cover is a lovely fanart I received from
1. Far Away - Nickelback
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymore
Far Away has always been Conversion's unofficial theme song. Nickelback is an amazing group, and the song just meshes so perfectly with the feel of the story and the relationship between Alter!Roy and Ed.
I remember the nights I watched as you lay sleeping
Your body gripped by some far away dream
Well I was so scared and so in love then
And so lost in all of you that I had seen
When I heard this song, it was Alter!Roy singing to Ed in my head. The lyrics are a little melancholy, and absolutely perfect. I tend to think of Alter!Roy in this state of mind right after Edward left.
Wasted time.
I cannot say that I was ready for this.
But when worlds collide,
and all that I have is all that I want.
The words seem to flow
and the thoughts they keep running.
And all that I have is yours.
All that I am is yours.
This one is mostly instrumental, but the few lyrics are very much Alter!Roy to Ed. He's such a romantic, that Alter!Roy. :D
And you love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, let me go
Ed to Alter!Roy, before he really understood exactly what it was he wanted.
Come feed the rain
'cause I'm thirsty for your love, dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah, feed the rain
'cause without your love, my life ain't nothing but this carnival of rust
Alter!Roy being a bit emo over Ed. This song doesn't fit quite as well as some of the others, but the the soundtrack needed a slightly darker song, and the feel, if not always the lyrics, fits Conversion very well.
6. Crash and Burn - Savage Garden
When you feel all alone
And a loyal friend is hard to find
You're caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can't face the day
This is the one that kicked off things. I heard this song yesterday and it was SO Roy that it actually made me feel guilty about ending Conversion the way I'm going to. This song sums up Roy's feelings for Ed perfectly, feelings that I'm afraid I haven't been able to explore fully in the story itself, but he really does care for Ed. Maybe even loves him, and he wants to do everything he can for him.
He's everything you want
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you
That you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
But he means nothing to you
And you don't know why
Ed and Roy...well, the lyrics really say it all here.
Just have a little patience
I'm still hurting from a love I lost,
I'm feeling your frustration,
any minute all the pain will stop,
Just hold me close inside your arms tonight,
don't be too hard on my emotions.
This song is very much about Ed trying to move past Alter!Roy. He's trying to learn to love Roy, but all things take time.
Now and again we try
To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
I had this song on repeat for most of chapter 12. It's a bit hard to pin down why this one feels so much like Ed and Roy to me, but I suppose it's something like Roy offering Ed a second chance.
10. Kaze no Machi he - Tsubasa
Japanese
I can't recall exactly what the lyrics mean, but this song is often on while I'm writing, and I'll usually play it when writing an emotional scene of some kind. It's very pretty.
Over the hills and far away,
he swears he will return one day.
Far from the mountains and the seas,
back in her arms he swears he'll be.
Over the hills and far away.
This will probably seem like a strange choice, but believe it or not, I had this song running repeat the entire time I was writing chapter 5. The story behind it is nothing like Conversion's, but the overall theme, that of a man separated from his love, should seem familiar.
Instrumental
A very pretty instrumental piece that I listen to often while working. It often plays background music to some of the more dramatic scenes.
There's just no rhyme or reason
Only this sense of completion
And in your eyes
I see the missing pieces
I'm searching for
I think I've found my way home
Technically this should go on the first part of the soundtrack with the other Alter!Roy/Ed songs, but this one is such a sappy guilty pleasure, I couldn't bring myself to put it with the more serious songs. It still fits them perfectly though. XD
